Perry Cammack, staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, discussed the situation in the Middle East.
The fundamental question is "why we should we care?" He briefly discussed the history of the situation and indicated that
its resolution was essential to the region. Iran poses a major presence and threat to the region and all countries in the
region are supportive of the role Iraq could play. The two major players are the Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel and
Palestine Authority Leader Abbas. George Mitchell has played a major role in attempting to resolve the long standing conflict
that is essential to peace in the region. For Israel, the issue is security; for Palestinians, it is land.
